Day 33
More Water Tips!
Howdy! Today I want to talk to you about watering your garden. Watering the right amount will keep your garden growing, and avoid disaster!
Container gardens:
- Water deeply and less frequently. Container gardens dry out more quickly than gardens in the ground, so it’s important to water deeply and less frequently. This will help to prevent the roots from becoming waterlogged.
- Water in the morning. Watering in the morning will help to prevent the leaves from getting wet, which can help to prevent fungal diseases.
- Water at the base of the plant. Avoid watering the leaves, as this can encourage fungal diseases.
- Use a watering can or a hose with a sprayer attachment. This will help to direct the water where you want it to go and prevent it from splashing on the leaves.
Gardens in the ground:
- Water deeply and less frequently. Gardens in the ground also need to be watered deeply and less frequently. This will help to encourage deep roots, which will make the plants more drought-tolerant.
- Water when the soil is dry to the touch. The best way to know when to water your garden is to stick your finger in the soil. If the soil is dry to the touch, it’s time to water.
- Water in the morning. Watering in the morning will help the water to soak into the soil and prevent it from evaporating.
- Use a sprinkler or a drip irrigation system. A sprinkler or a drip irrigation system will help to water your garden evenly and prevent water from splashing on the leaves.
